2. Set up

Keep tapping the karate chop point the whole time as you say the following:

Even though I’m afraid this holiday/special event will be difficult for me and I have had bad experiences in the past, I’m a good person.

Even though I feel really stressed out, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Even though I feel lonely, sad, and overwhelmed, I’ll allow myself to let go of any sadness and resentment and enjoy the season.

3. Negative Statements

Tap on the points as you say the following:

EB: I’m sad. I feel overwhelmed about the holidays. They’ve lost meaning.

SE: I resent this. I feel guilty. I feel like I’m not worthy of joy.

UE: I feel sad that I can’t be with my family/do what I want for this holiday/event. I have to please everyone else. My expectations are too high. I don’t like accepting gifts, compliments, or help from others.

UN: I don’t have the time, money or resources. This is a burden.

CH: I’m angry. No one understands how I feel. I have too much stress.

CB: I will feel really lonely and isolated. I’m not good enough. I will never get all the cleaning/shopping/decorating/baking/cooking done. I’m afraid my gifts or food won’t be good enough. I’m stressed over how others behave. I have no control.

UA: Doesn’t anyone care about me? Something always goes wrong.

TH: Remaining sadness, resentment, and feelings of overwhelm.
