2. Set up
Keep tapping the karate chop point the whole time as you say the following:
Even though Iâm afraid this holiday/special event will be difficult for me and I have had bad experiences in the past, Iâm a good person.
Even though I feel really stressed out, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I feel lonely, sad, and overwhelmed, Iâll allow myself to let go of any sadness and resentment and enjoy the season.
3. Negative Statements
Tap on the points as you say the following:
EB: Iâm sad. I feel overwhelmed about the holidays. Theyâve lost meaning.
SE: I resent this. I feel guilty. I feel like Iâm not worthy of joy.
UE: I feel sad that I canât be with my family/do what I want for this holiday/event. I have to please everyone else. My expectations are too high. I donât like accepting gifts, compliments, or help from others.
UN: I donât have the time, money or resources. This is a burden.
CH: Iâm angry. No one understands how I feel. I have too much stress.
CB: I will feel really lonely and isolated. Iâm not good enough. I will never get all the cleaning/shopping/decorating/baking/cooking done. Iâm afraid my gifts or food wonât be good enough. Iâm stressed over how others behave. I have no control.
UA: Doesnât anyone care about me? Something always goes wrong.
TH: Remaining sadness, resentment, and feelings of overwhelm.
